Intimate Scottish countryside wedding in Georgian mansion in the heart of Fife
Sophie wore a unique creation, combining her favourite elements from two of our With Love Mirka dresses, Rhea and June. This custom dress perfectly matched her vision and made her feel beautiful on her special day.
How would you describe your Mirka Bridal Couture experience?
My experience at Mirka’s was amazing, starting from the first time I walked through the door. The shop is such a calming and welcoming environment. Mirka’s attitude towards everything was also brilliant, anything I said she was taking in completely and I felt so at ease.
Could you tell us a bit about your dress?
My dress is was everything I wanted and more. It’s a beautiful lace v-neck with a blush underskirt and it flows out from just above the waist. My sleeves and across my chest was a gorgeous floral pattern and my skirt was almost like an Aztec pattern, with squares and triangles.
When did you know you had found the dress for you?
My dress was actually made from 2 dresses I tried on. I knew before I went to my appointment that I wanted something really unique and something that covered the parts I didn’t like about my body, which is exactly what I did. But as soon as I put the first dress on for the second time I envisioned exactly what I wanted, I described what I wanted to Mirka and she made it!
Tell us some more about your big day.
Well for starters our wedding actually wasn’t going to be a big thing at all, we were going to get married just at the registrars office with two witnesses and then have a party to celebrate. It turned into a small intimate wedding with just family at Balbirnie House, then we had a party on the Saturday after to celebrate. It was beautiful day, the sun was out just enough for the lighting to be great outside but not too much that it was too hot. We had the ceremony at 1:30pm on the 1st of April 2024, then had an afternoon tea afterwards.
What was your biggest wedding inspiration?
All of my inspiration was from Pinterest, TikTok and also people telling their stories online.
Finally, do you have any advice for future brides visiting Mirka Bridal Couture?
Listen to everything Mirka says but also let her know what you want or if you don’t like something, and relax you are in great hands with Mirka.
What is your favourite picture from your wedding day and why is this image so special to you?
My favourite picture from the day is the photo of me and my dad hugging at the bottom of the stairs, this was the first of me seeing my dad on the day. It’s so special to me as it shows how truly close me and my dad are, we’re both crying our eyes out with joy.
