Sarah and Sean’s beautiful wedding on the beach at Balranald in North Uist.
Sarah came to us looking for a fun, festival-inspired wedding dress and fell in love with our Olivia design, a glamorous mermaid gown with intricate lace and beaded embellishments.
How would you describe your Mirka Bridal Couture experience?
Mirka Bridal Couture was the first, and only bridal boutique I visited. I first saw Mirka's collection on social media and instantly knew that I had to meet the woman who designs dresses for women. From the moment I stepped into the shop Mirka was warm and passionate, it's clear that she truly cares about creating dresses that makes each bride feel special. She designs with women in mind, and each dress is as unique as the brides that wear them. I knew right away that Mirka was the one I wanted to trust with my dress.
Since my husband and I planned to elope, I didn’t bring anyone along to help choose my dress, but Mirka made me feel completely at ease. She guided me through every decision—from materials and colours to the cut and style. Mirka truly listened to what I wanted and needed (a beach wedding followed by a festival) and knew I needed a dress that would allow me to walk along the Hebridean beach and then dance the night away! Each step of the process was thoughtful, relaxed, and full of joy. I genuinely looked forward to every fitting with Mirka
Can you tell us a bit about your dress?
WOW! My dress is something from my dreams, truly. I instantly fell in love with Mirkas "Olivia" dress - it was the only dress I tried on! I was drawn to the lace and beaded design, the silhouette and feminine fit. I felt drawn to this gown the moment I saw it. Mirka helped guide me through the choices of colour to best compliment my skin tone, and advised me on any adjustments like raising the neckline to suit my style and allow me to ceilidh dance the night away. My dress made me feel elegant, glittery and fun. I absolutely love how my dress made me so happy
When did you know you had found the dress for you?
I knew instantly! As soon as I saw Mirkas gorgeous creation "Olivia" I knew it was the dress I wanted to be married in! It was the only dress I tried on! I was drawn to the silhouette, the lace and beaded embellishments and the freedom to dance while feeling fabulous!
Did you end up choosing a dress in the style you thought you were going to go for or was it something completely different?
I arrived at Mirka Bridal with an open mind, I could tell from her social media that she designs dresses with women in mind, and each dress has a bright and wonderful personality so I was in safe hands. As soon as I saw the Olivia dress in the shop, I didn't want to look at any others!
How did you find the process of having a dress made to measure for you?
Mirka made me feel so taken care of. Her experience and warmth meant that although I was choosing my dress in secret, I felt like her guidance and expertise made the whole experience relaxed and wonderful. I can't thank her enough. Each visit was thorough, with lots of time to ask questions where Mirka would talk me through her suggestions and check with me if we were creating a dress that I would cherish forever
How did you feel in your dress on the day?
I have never felt so beautiful. I also felt so comfortable and special. I could move freely, dance, hug tightly, raise my arms up and laugh the entire day. I felt like me, but elevated to another level. I was so comfortable and happy in my dress I didn't want to take it off!
Tell us more about your big day / What was your biggest wedding inspiration?
We had one goal: chill. We love Scotland and our favourite place to be is at the beach so being married on the beach in the Outer Hebrides followed by dancing at a Scottish music festival at night, felt absolutely perfect for us. We didn't stop belly laughing all day, it was perfect
What is your favourite picture from your wedding day and why is this image so special to you?
This is the most difficult question to answer!!! There are too many!!! Jenny our photographer, captured so many memories (not posed photos, but snapshots of our magical day) this one photo shows us both belly laughing while trying to take "a nice photo" . We were just so happy we wouldn't hold it in (and we hadn't started on the gin yet!)
Finally, do you have any advice for future brides visiting Mirka Bridal Couture?
Brides to be; you're in safe hands. If you have a clear vision for what your dream dress should be or like me, have no idea where to start, Mirka will help you every step of the way. She wants to know whats important to you, to make sure you feel absolutely stunning on your special day
